Unfortunately, part C of the CDS doesn’t provide that waitlist detail, nor does the waitlist FAQ. Might be best to call them and ask.
A waitlist to first choice but admission to 2nd is an admission to the U of MN. A defer - at this point - is not and could end up being a total waitlist altogether. So the first option is better, especially because they have been admitting RD candidates since December or possibly earlier.
roseMN and PamKrojse, I just checked the Admissions Tracker today and my son got into CSE!!! We are ecstatic. Interestingly enough, there was no mention of it in the Communications Center. Since the both of you have similar stats … Good luck. I am pulling for you.

Did anyone who applied in December get their scholarship or honors stuff back yet for CSE?
@bay_blade2000, Do you think getting in touch with the admissions counselor at the U and expressing interest in the CSE program would help to have an edge and help with getting off the wait list ?
roseMN, I called admissions a couple of times. I do not know if it helped, but I don’t think it hurt either. The best person I spoke with was the UMN counselor assigned to my son’s HS. I think the thing that helped the most was senior year 1st semester grades. If you daughter did well, you might want to update her grades on SRAR.
Bay_blade2000 - do they actually read the updated SRAR? My son did the same in order to increase his chances for Honors . . .
JBStillFlying, I was told that the application is re-reviewed any time the application is updated. So my belief is that admissions will read the updated SRAR.
hi, how do you update the grades? received all As first semester and currently “deferred”.

@hahaha99 It means that you should be receiving a decision soon. Usually tracker updates overnight so check back in tomorrow morning!
@Henxnr If we don’t have a one-line status update could we still expect a decision overnight? I hope this long of a wait isn’t bad news.
