Why is an international business degree useless?

I already know I plan to be a business major. I’m a senior completing college apps rn to the Ucs, and Boston/NY schools.
I considered an IB degree because I have a fascination/obsession with travel, the world, different cultures.
However, my counselor and college friends say that it’s essentially a pointless degree.

I can kind of see the reasoning behind it, as it’s just not a very popular major. They also said that it won’t get many jobs?
Could someone provide an explanation/thoughts on the IB degree? If you have anything else that’s worth knowing about the IB degree then feel free to share.
Thanks

Major in intl finance, intl marketing etc. Do intl internships and study abroad. If you only speak English you are at a disadvantage.

Hi thanks for responding… If possible, could you explain a bit?

This is Northeastern’s BSIB program. it is separate from their BSBA program:

There are concentrations within the BSIB and required study and work abroad periods.

My Dd is an IB major at USCarolina. Their program is small with some of the cohorts having only a handful of kids. I can’t remember the exact number, but it is something like 150 students per yr total including the general IB and all cohorts. The upperclassmen we have met have all had numerous internships and the srs all had job offers.

Pair IB with another business major (finance, accounting, marketing, or supply chain), and at least one foreign language (proficiency required).

^This. IB majors at USC are required to declare a co-major in addition to their language.
