Why is "investment banking" the only topic on this board?

Why is "investment banking" the only topic on this board? Isn't this the category for "internships,Careers, and Employment?" Investment banking isn't the only career.... where are the topics for other careers?

If you want other topics to be addressed, you’ll have to bring them up yourself. Investment banking is simply what many CCers are interested in.

I know. But why are they interested in it - and it only? But even if they are interested in it, shouldn’t it mean that forums for other jobs be inactive instead of completely nonexistent? in other words, I’ve heard from some people that undergrad institution doesn’t matter unless you’re doing investment banking - could this be why?

Much of the readership of College Confidential is high school students interested in applying to top universities such as HPYS. Investment banking is a very lucrative career path, and is next to impossible to get into as an undergraduate unless you attend one of these top universities. It would seem to follow reasonably that 16 and 17 year olds who don’t have much knowledge of other college choices or career paths would be very interested in this subject.

As far as other career paths are concerned: medical school, law school, and graduate school all have their own separate forums on the website. If you are interested in other fields such as business administration, engineering, performing arts, education, etc., there is also plenty of information being dispensed on those respective majors’ forums.

Ah… that makes sense. Thanks so much. It cleared the cloud in my head lol
