Investment Banking

So I’m only a high school sophomore but at this moment I am in love with the concept of investment banking. I know my visualization of the flashiness and glamour may be unrealistic, but I’ve done a little research and I feel like it’s something I would definitely be interested in.

Anyways I want this thread to be pretty open, any responses related to investment banking would be greatly appreciated. Whether you are an aspiring IB, an actual one, or just a CC regular, feel free to join in!

Ok i guess i should ask the first question lol, are top busniess undergrad degress (wharton, HYPS, etc) pretty much necessary to have a chance to get into investment banking?

Hello, I’m on the site doing research on a different topic, but saw this and thought I’d chime in. I have many friends who did investment banking for 2-5 years post-college. They were all Wharton grads. An undergrad business program is best but not essential. You could be a finance/accounting major elsewhere too. For example, Illinois or Emory. Key question to ask college career services is whether investment banks come to recruit and interview there.

Thanks for the info. You said your friends only did for 2-5 years, is that normal? Likewise I heard many don’t stay in investment banking for a long period of time. Why is that? @curious4info‌

this is an old post but if anyone sees it, it’ll be great if they answer. I’m a high school sophomore looking for an internship in this field. Any ideas?
