According to the following webpage on the wall street journal website (School Rankings by College Major – Job Recruiter Top Picks - WSJ.com) Rutgers NB is ranked 3rd in the nation for undergraduate business studies/recruitment. Are these legitimate rankings?

Do these rankings factor in regional schools like Baruch?
If not, which one do you think has better connections/recruitment ability, Baruch or Rutgers?

Thanks in advance

OVerall better in undergraduate business for the second question

I don’t agree with any of the lists in that report.
First off…THE Wharton School of Business is Ranked 9 in Finance?
UoChicago is ranked 15 in Economics??
MIT is ranked 8 in Engineering???

Each one of these schools are ranked #1 overall in these majors by many other reputable sources. MIT is like tied with Georgia Institute for #1 as well

but I think these rankings are based on recruitment of undergraduate students no?

the article says best graduates as ranked by recruiters (Some arbitrary body since this article makes no mention of who they actually are)

It is hard to argue that top 10 schools in the country are beaten out by state schools in these fields. It is impossible to believe.
Oh an quite a few of the colleges listed don’t even offer undergrad majors where they are listed!

I am an employer and I know exactly what perspective the rankings are coming from. I hire a recruiter to find me the best VALUE and someone who will be plug and play ready to work with as little retraining as possible. I prefer Georgia Tech or Cal Poly over “elite” schools. I have no time to deal with intellectual elitism and why should I pay more for someone who may consider my company a stepping stone to somewhere else when what I want is someone who will call my company home and build a career with us. Why should I pay a premium for a brand name that may or may not produce any more talent than the next grad from another school. Anyway, there is a big difference between the school’s academic rankings and schools that produce people who I want to hire. I want competence, a certain level of humility, someone who will be coachable and is willing to work from the ground up. Once you come through our doors, where you came from no longer matters. Prove yourself to me and the team and you will be rewarded on merit.

Size matters. A recruiting visit to a big school exposes your company to hundreds of potential recruits, while a recruiting visit to a smaller school exposes your company to fewer potential recruits.

Also, if an elite school attracts a lot of high paying investment banking companies, other companies may not find that they get a very good yield rate recruiting at the elite schools.

Way to go Rutgers! My nephew is a business major at NB. My sister wanted him to go to Swarthmore (family legacy) or another LAC. But he knew what he wanted. Makes me proud.

Thanks for the input im glad there is some truth to this list. I guess their business school might still be an option for me.
