Why is the admission rate for international applicants much lower?

blackhair1, worrying doesn’t help
As long as you’re brilliant, you will get in even if the rate is 1% :)

I’m just kidding, I’m overreacting, dude. Still I am pretty nervous.

Uhhh… Isn’t almost every applicant brilliant?

They are all relatively brilliant
Be confident. Trust yourself. At least it helps with your essays.

I hope everyone does well!

Only a few days left to polish those essays!

I think 5 people from my country were offered last year. haha.

At least there are multiple admits in your countries; my interviewer told me that only ONE person gets in from Oceania every year.

Oh man… 22 admitted from South Korea. Living more than half my life in the States and my Korean deteriorating like no other puts me at quite a disadvantage here…

But I did not realize that international admission rate was 3%. That’s… quite disheartening/scary.

Imaging how scary it would be for caribbean people.

(Like me)

I really hope I get in. But I know that I probably won’t. If I don’t get in, I would like to get in Toronto. If I don’t get in, I don’t know what I will do…

I LOVE MIT! I can’t indeed imagine not in MIT next year. I feel that it matches me, but after I have submitted the application yesterday, I worry that I don’t tell myself good enough, I worry that teachers don’t write a good recommendation. Well… I know worrying does not help.

If I get admitted in both UT and MIT, I don’t know which one I will choose though. I really love MIT, but UT seems very good also. I probably need to take a tour for 2 weeks to decide.

MIT sounds cool. Lol. But UT is not bad either.

Choose MIT, ALWAYS CHOOSE MIT.

kenhungkk: So your job now is waiting  Don’t worry, I think you will get in :)

MrPropapanda: Choose MIT  I don’t know much about UT, but if you look at the weird building in MIT, you will love it :D

O_o

Are you at MIT, Rainier?

By the way, do you know what your country of origin is based on? Is it where you are a citizen or where you live?

hey, i need some advice here.

sat 1 scores still not out yet

deadline for mit application is dec 31. should i wait for the scores until 30, or send it tmr on 29?

Thanks. I mean if, theoretically, I have a Norwegian citizenship but live in, say, Korea, where there are a lot of applicants, where would I be considered to be from?

Hehe, well, I have a similar situation in reality. I’m from India (passport and citizenship wise) but live in Doha, Qatar (parents work here, so I have a visa).

I think the country is decided by citizenship, so in the case of your hypothetical example it’ll be Norway.

You don’t need to wait for your SAT scores.
