Why is there no Computer Science Subject Test?

Computer science seems to be one of the fastest growing and arguably one of the most popular fields to go into today. Do you think that the College Board will ever have a Computer Science Subject Test or is this too specific of a subject to have? Obviously it would not come out any time soon (if ever) but it seems that a Computer Science score would be a useful piece of information for prospective CS students.

Yes it would be great if there is a computer science test. But doing a written computer test is a bit weird

I agree it would be useful, but I’m not sure exactly how it would be implemented.

A paper-based test might be awkward especially if the test asks you to produce code (grading is also difficult). A MC test could be something similar to APCS, but that assumes knowledge of Java, and there are many other languages.

Alternatively, the test could be more focused on data structures, algorithms, and complexity theory, but that might be too advanced for most HS students. Note that AP Computer Science AB, which covers some of these topics, was once offered, but is discontinued.

I think it would be really hard because I personally find that when writing code, I need to be able to use trial and error a few times in order to figure it out, and on paper you don’t have that liberty. I guess a multiple choice wouldn’t be SO bad, but still

I think the reason is because very few schools actually teach CS

Ugh I really wish we had one, I would definitely take it!
