Oh Ari, you've gotta to admit DC is much better than Los Angeles. But then again I live in University Park and you hail from Westwood so perhaps our perceptions differ...

who wants to leave? well hey, you left.

and i do! i'm not even from CA originally, and i would enjoy and welcome a different and new experience (probably one of the things that makes me a good potential candidate).

Anyhow, it's good to know at least "our" schools go the distance literally in the admissions on the east coast, and fortunately not having alot of applicants from USC ect because of the geography may be benefecial from a competition standpoint.

and yes E3 is fun, i'm going to actualy and try and find some after parties this year, as they can be fierce.

Spincut ~ thanks for the info on the ITP. I don't think I've seen a thread on it, and I bet it interestsw a lot of people (I know my S is interested).

megastud,

There are a million reasons and a half why DC is better than LA. The largest of course is public transportation.

spincut,

If there is one thing I've learned in my short 22 years, it's that there is an amazing world outside of California. It just has much worse weather.

Imagine you are going to court would you hire a USC graduated lawyer or one who graduated at UCLA?
Imagine that you are going to a dentist. Would you pick a USC graduated or an UCLA graduated?
Imagine you are asked to have a list of the 10 best movies of all time… would you include “Back to the future”, “Star Wars”; or you would include… (I cannot name a movie from UCLA that would make my list)
This is a 10 year old thread…I am sure there have been more recent comparisons on this forum
It’s interesting to see how ivory tower UCLA is getting, especially with the $100 million donation to build a private middle and high school.
As the years go on, UCLA will become more and more privatized, a la Michigan and Virginia. For example, the business school is now a private entity with zero funding from the state.
To be fair MrRuiz, UCLAs claim to fame entertainment alumni is Francis Ford Coppola who directed The Godfather. However, USC is by far superior.
As CADREAMING wrote It is a ten year old thread.
Be aware the numbers UCLA posts for admission on their website are for admitted students, not enrolled students. We are still waiting for enrolled student numbers… There can be significant differences.
don’t bruin your life fam
It isn’t. I’m a full-tuition scholar at USC this year and I’m highly considering transferring out. USC has lots of problems, academic and non-academic. I’d be happy to talk to someone if they’re interested in the issues I’ve had with USC. As one of the top students admitted, I’ve felt the education is pretty bad, the quality of life bad, and the culture pretty poor. Feel free to message me with any questions about further details. I hope to illuminate many of the problems USC has and dismiss many of the existing over-optimistic fallacies about the school out there.
If u are OOS, then USC is better than UCLA because u are eligible for FA & merit scholarships.
@CharlesDavis to start, why don’t you tell us which classes you took this semester?
ee109, cs103, writ150 calc 2
Please elaborate. Whatever is broken needs to be fixed.
Lol was going to comment on a super old thread.
Yes please elaborate! Why is the education “pretty bad” and do students there easy to get along with?
hmmmm a brand new poster that is going to give up 60K+ in tuition/COA to transfer elsewhere with no backup to the claims, who then disappears, and a 10 year old thread to boot…something is fishy. A troll perhaps? For you students in the middle of making a huge decision in your life, you have to be careful about letting posts affect you. That applies always, but particularly when there seems to be no substance behind claims. A competitor school/student perhaps? Or someone that just doesn’t like USC for whatever reason…maybe they weren’t accepted last year. You never know. But there is way too little data behind those accusations to give them any validity.
I am all for a new thread with a comparison of USC and UCLA, or one discussing actual issues at USC if someone wants to start either of those, but this thread is too old and going sideways. Hoping moderator will close with hopes for a fresh new discussion, thanks @skieurope (if you are still moderating)
I am
The thread is 10 years old. Use old threads for research but do not resurrect; start a new discussion if necessary. Closing.
