Why isn't MIT called MassTech?

<p>It sounds funny, meaningful, and cool. Also, it keeps equilibrium (Caltech, MassTech). </p>

<p>That cracked me up. Well, I was thinking that "masstech" sounded meaningful because MIT is top in technology. So, it's place is tech is huge (mass).
Besides, its from massachusetts.</p>
