I applied to middlebury RD and its been one of my top choices for a while, but I haven’t had the chance to visit the campus because I can’t afford to travel that far since I live across the country. I was wondering about the vibe of middlebury, why specifically should someone go to middlebury that they don’t show on their website?
Can I ask why it is one of your top choices, @porkcutletfatale ?
I think the size of the school made a difference in my daughter’s experience – always meeting new people, but likely to meet people again. I graduated from Cornell and my friendships had to do with my dorm freshman year and my major, so in retrospect it was too large to connect more broadly. I imagine social media makes a large school easier to navigate today. Still, had I not met my husband that one night at a party, I might not have run into him again. At Cornell, only freshman were guaranteed housing and then you live off-campus. At Middlebury, you are expected to live on campus all four years and that makes for more camaraderie.
