Why must college essays be so confusing!! help please!

<p>Alright, I am officially confused OUT of my mind...</p>

<p>I did research on college essays (common app) and found out that creativity is greatly appreciated. so as i was writing my UC essays...i assumed the same only to read on CC that creativity is not preferred for UCs :[! </p>

<p>I have just written my essay for the 1st prompt revolving around an elaborate metaphor, telling meaningful experiences in my life through special objects i have and summing it up to how my world (and my experiences) have essentially encouraged me to give back to community since it gave so much to me.</p>

<p>But i feel very confused cause it seems like this would be a BAD essay now :[ </p>

<p>So my main question is... does creativity annoy UC readers because it is not straight forward? Should i redo my essay to be more to-the-point :[?</p>

<p>then maybe you should reconsider the metaphor idea. It could be asking for trouble, especially if they don’t get your intent.</p>

<p>call the admissions office. they actually love to hear from you, and record every contact you make as a measure of your interest. They are the only ones who can really answer this question.</p>
