My son ultimately had to decide between BW, OCU BoCo and PSU-like many he had dreamed of attending Michigan but was waitlisted and has heard nothing since May 1. He loved all the schools but a final visit to PSU in April clinched it for him. We met with Mr. Libkin, attended classes, met students, ate ice cream (very important as PSU has their own creamery and makes incredible stuff) watched rehearsals and toured the campus. Mr. Libkin was very persuasive-the MT program has considerable backing from the school president who sees these kids as ambassadors for the University-much like the athletes. He employs them to perform at football tailgate parties, the MT ensemble travels all over the world to perform for alumni groups and around the country as well. Every year, the MT students make a trip to NYC to meet people, see shows and learn the business. There are a myriad of performing opportunities because of all the MFA directing projects. They have some of the best MT voice coaches in the business. They have a music director who is well connected and has worked on Broadway (Piazza and others I think) and they have also added Susan Schulman (Secret Garden) to the faculty. The big college atmosphere was very appealing as well as the more strenuous academic standards at the University. And although they offered him less in scholarship money than the other schools, the overall cost was comparable to attending an instate school. The students he met were talented, energetic, focused and loved their program. He cant wait for the fall.

So wonderful to hear that things worked out so well for your son! I hope he has a great year!
