WHY NORTHWESTERN- can someone post theirs from last year? help :)

im completely stuck! i have a few ideas of what to say but i dont know how formal/informal it should be. and how to start it.. Help me? :)
thanks so muchhh

Just make it yours, and tell them why you really want to go… if you can’t think of any good reasons, maybe you should apply someplace you’re more passionate about. As for the level of formality, I’m pretty sure anything goes… as long as it’s effective.

wow yellow really…?
ur gonna copy someones personal essay to get into college… well thats just fantastic…

since when did i say i was going to copy someones essay??? wow.
just wanted a sample. is that so wrong?

yes. yes it is.

Haha. Get the **** out of here, olleger. He specified that it could be someone from last year. He’d only be hurting himself if he copied. The original writer would not be harmed in any way; they’d already be at Northwestern. Chill.

haha i need to chill? I never got warm.

Just saying its a personal essay, not really supposed to be modeled after others?

dude olleger… he never asked yours anyway. plus, he probably just wanted to get some ideas…

I have to side with olleger on this one. I apologize to the OP if you really weren’t trying to cheat, but you should recognize that it looks really fishy when you ask someone to post their essay instead of just asking your questions outright - for example, you could have asked, “How formal/informal should this be?” or any number of other specific questions instead of asking people to post their essays.

Again, no offense, but the first thing I thought when I saw the title of this thread was “cheater.” Even if this wasn’t your intention, you should at least recognize that that’s the way it looks.

And I disagree that it wouldn’t hurt someone who’s already at NU to have their essay copied. Is it LIKELY that a plagiarizer would be found out? Absolutely not. However, I’m almost 100% sure that if NU somehow DID found out that a current student let an applicant copy their essay, that student would be in serious trouble.

Samples are always a good idea to gauge how yours is in comparison. I completely sympathize and agree with yellowpaint.
