What are the unique qualities of Northwestern - and of the specific undergraduate school to which you are applying - that make you want to attend the University? In what ways do you hope to take advantage of the qualities you have identified?

so there it is...

how long is it supposed to be?
is anyone else STUCK?
what ideas do you guys have?

I would say that it should be at least 500 words. I’m pretty sure mine was more like 650 words though because I had a great deal to say.

It is only the beginning of August though, and it is fine that you are stuck. Honestly, half of the ideas that come to you immediately are the ones that reek of BS. Don’t sit there staring at a blank computer screen - think about it whilst NOT thinking about it. Do you catch my drift? Keep doing research, go over the essay in your head so maybe in 2 weeks, you know what you really want to write. I guarantee that those words will carry more significance than any rushed piece of material.

As to others helping you, be very wary of that. As with all other things in life, if the words aren’t yours that you are writing, it will be blatantly obvious. Although this may sound trite, the essay must come from your heart. Instead of asking anonymous people on a forum if they have any ideas as to what you should write, take some time and really think about it yourself because the end product will be more indicative of you.
