I am a US citizen, and i was born, brought up, and raised there. This is my first serious trip to india (I have come to see colleges, and work at a hospital), and so far pretty much everyone is telling me to do [medical] college here. They say that its MUCH shorter (4 years directly in medical school), and then after you finish it here to go back to US and specialize in whatever. From what i hear from them, there are barely any disadvantages. I'd be at an advantage on the USMLE because im an american; schooling is MUCH BETTER here and i'd be better trained as a doctor; i would have the support system of all my cousins, who are all doctors (in the states my relatives and cousins are all engineers, IT, business); and it would be easier for me as an american coming in. This seriously seems like a wayy too good to be true deal. Can someone tell me the catch?

so far the only thing i'm seeing is that studying abroad is bad because its not good to go to another country. I have also heard that residencies as an nri may be hard to get into. I also know i am giving up my american college experience, but thats a sacrifice im contemplating to be worth it; in exchange i get a better, faster, and cheaper education.
