why penn?

When writing about why I want to go to penn, the fundamental reasons are obvious. It’s clearly a great school, great faculty, great student body, but I don’t know much of what to say beyond that. As a wharton applicant, i, along with everyone else, knows that it has the absolute best undergrad business program, but I don’t know how to bring my answer on to a more personal level. Anyone can mention the things I said above. Any recommendations on how to go about personalizing this answer? Thanks.

mention clubs you were in during high school, and how you can use your experiences in them to contribute to organizations at penn. just an idea. i guess a bit of general flattery won't hurt, but yeah, having a few specific things is needed.

I like how the small campus mixes everyone in every school together. Where else but on Locust Walk on a beautiful spring day can you see people in business suits, medical scrubs, dirty engineering clothes, sports gear, or even running around shirtless--and not just see them, but know them? Heck you even see the President Amy Gutmann walking from her house to her office in College Hall

My suggestions... include specific references to what upenn has that no other school does. For example, in my essay i talked about how wharton's study abroad program at the universita di luigi bocconi in italy matches my interest in business w my love of italian. Try to match your interests to specific activties/programs unique to penn. Good luck.

Just be aware that the essay question is not "Why Penn?" but "Why is Penn a good match for you?" Key phrase: good match.

Like the others said, find something about yourself, whether it be your favorite clubs, love for italians or love for small campuses, and tell them that your passion drives you towards Penn. Remember, a good match is reciprocal. Why does Penn need you, and why do you need Penn?
