I actually love GT very much as a first-year EE student. But, some of my friend complained to me about GT.
something like "killing me", "unreasonable strict", " boring"

Could anyone here say something about the reasons students hate GT? I am now really interested.

Some people get through high school with high grades based entirely on intellect. They never have to study, never have to work hard, and barely spend time on homework. When they get to GT, things are very different, which requires a choice:
Some students choose to change their work ethic and study, achieve high grades, expand their intellect, and graduating with excellent career opportunities.
Some students continue to not work hard and perform poorly. These students tend to blame the school rather than themselves (after all, they were excellent HS students, so they should be excellent college students, at least that’s their logic). These tend to be the complainers.

The other complainers are the students that expect college to be like the movies: you show up on the first day and there are bikini clad girls jello wrestling in your living and parties spilling out of the hallway. The truth is, it’s not like that. Anywhere. To have fun in college you have to put in at least a little bit of effort. You have to leave your room, meet people, and go to parties. If you don’t do that and instead lock yourself in your room, you’re going to be pretty lonely at any school. But rather than realizing that, they complain and blame it on Tech.

agreed, those people give Tech such a bad rap. If you don’t do your work, got to class, and study, you will most likely not do well. My boyfriend does his work, goes to every class, and constantly studies and asks questions, and he has made all A’s so far in Calc 2, physics 2, computer science, chem 1 and intro to AE. The people Tech admits normally have never had to study for a class, so they never learned how to study.

Tech is determined to deliver a product. And that is an engineer who is precise with a strong work ethic. In order to make sure that happens, they throw tons of work at you at a really fast pace with difficult tests, almost seemingly trying to fail you.

Tech isn’t as much about learning as it is about enduring. If you’re smart, that doesn’t mean much. If you’re good at doing monotonous work and being an obedient mindless drone, you can do well at Tech and you’ll like it.

your words remind something about Electrical Engineering. Today, Technology is growing so rapidly that lots of knowledge are totally useless.

Maybe that’s why Tech is trowing tons of work at students. Students could learn how to learn things quickly and efficiently under heavy pressure, no matter where the pressure is from(the strict professors or the rapidly changing technology ).
