everyone says premed is tough, but why? becuz a lot of required courses? or the courses (materials, exams) are hard? or MCAT is hard?

from what i have heard from premed students, the classes (at least in the beginning) are the same that others take. However, since the premed students are so competitive, they take the classes seperately from everyone else. Since they are so competitive, you have to study to do well, since everyone does, which greatly reduces the curve.

"they take the classes seperately from everyone else"

why seperately? like what class? the required for med school?

Pre Meds are (generally) extremely concerned about beating the academic crap out of everyone else.

Premeds don't take seperate classes from others. Well, actually, the physics department offers a special intro physics class for premeds (as opposed to the intro to physics class for engineers and the intro physic class for physics majors).

So I see it as a combination of two factors: the sheer number of entering freshman to are premed as compared to people who will actually see it through and the insane discipline of those who actually are committed to getting into medical school.
