why reed essay length

Every other place I applied to suggests a length for their essays. How long should THIS essay be?

As long as you need.

Well you’re just as helpful as the original prompt :P

Haha sorry, but every essay has its own desirable length. Write as much as you think you need, whether that’s one or five pages. Obviously you should do this within reason, but don’t over- or under-write.

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of! But i guess one to two pages should be sufficient. Thanks c:

Two pages is good ^^ I think I wrote 2 and a half or so.

Write as much as you think is deserving of the essay. Essays tend to range from 1.5-3 pages. 1 page is better than say, and under developed half a page. One to two pages is common. In the end, make the essay as long as you need to really show why Reed is the best school and the best fit for you.

I wrote one page and did fine. My writing style is very succinct though.

Mine was half a page (single-spaced, though). The length really doesn’t matter in and of itself.

I wrote a page, single spaced, size 11 font.

Mine was around 950 words (a page and a half single-spaced). Like others have said, use as many words as you deem necessary to answer the question.

Mine was 12 pt font, double spaced, and exactly 666 words (win!) and I got in.
