Hello I am student that is still having trouble deciding on what school to attend this fall I have finally narrowed it down between SDSU and UC Davis and I just wanted to ask people who attended or chose this school why they did and what led you to choose this school like factors thank you so much

To further assist may I ask you what you are going to major in, do you plan to attend grad school, and what profession are you intending to go in?

well in both schools I am going into Sociology as of right now I want to go to grad school nd hopefully getting a masters but just getting in for undergrad I don’t know where and right now I am thinking becoming a high school counselor

Both schools are great for sociology. So I would narrow my search down to the campus. Honestly Davis is pretty boring. While SDSU is lively and exciting. But if you live near SDSU I advise you to plan a trip, because I visited the campus and it was enough to persuade me to go there.

Hopefully you like wherever you go to.

For your goals it wont matter. I would go to the cheaper school after financial aid.

Boring to one is perfect for another. The campus environments are completely different from what I have read. I would visit both to get a feel for which one you like better.

In regards to Lookin4ward, if you like a city-environment then SDSU is the way to go, while Davis is more quiet and secluded.

Both are excellent schools; it just depends on what your interests are (both academic and social). I chose SDSU because it seemed like a better school for me personally but I can totally see why people like Davis. I chose it because it’s a good school academically and I felt like I would really get the “college experience” there…it has a beautiful campus and there always seems to be a lot going on. It does have a bit of a reputation as a party school though, if you’re worried about that. If you want to go to a school with really good academics, Davis is nationally ranked–I think it’s in the top 10 best public universities in the country. To me this didn’t matter as much (I’m majoring in theater and SDSU has a pretty big theater program, so that was more important to me than academics), but since you’re looking to go into a pretty academic field it might matter more to you. SDSU also has great academics, just not at the level of Davis.

Most would say that SDSU has a better campus than UCD but it really depends on personal preference. SDSU’s campus almost looks like a postcard of San Diego: very sunny with a lot of Mexican-influenced architecture. It’s also very open. UC Davis has a HUGE campus (the largest of the UCs, I think). It’s a lot plainer than SDSU, but not in a bad way. It looks more like a traditional college campus. Location is also something to think about. SDSU is obviously in San Diego, so it’s a good choice if you like to be in more urban areas or near the beach. UC Davis is in a more isolated area which is good if you want to live somewhere a little quieter. It’s a few hours away from San Francisco so if you wanted to go there every once in a while you could.

Another thing to consider is that at UCs many of their undergrad programs are at about the same level as those of a CSU. Even though UCs generally have better-trained professors and researchers, a lot of them only teach grad students. If you’re thinking about grad school maybe you could go to CSU now and then a UC or even a private school for grad school. That’s what I’m thinking about doing.

Hope that helped!

Go to the cheaper school Especially if you plan on going to grad school but since they both will have roughly the same cost it will most likely come down to preference. Sdsu is known as a party school while UCD is more relaxed and San Francisco isn’t too far a drive away. Different environments but both good schools. I personally would probably go with Davis as it is nationally ranked but again it’s all preference
