Why Tufts? Word Limit

I know that the word limit is 50, but the character limit is 500. Which is more important to follow? I finally condensed my reasons for applying to Tufts into exactly 50 words, but it's only 337 characters (w/spaces). Should I write more? Or play it safe staying at 50 words?

Definitely follow the 50-word limit. The 500-characters are there to not cut you off if you so happen to write more, but they are by no means a standard.

If you look back a few threads, you can find Dan, an admissions officer at Tufts, and his take on the essays. (:

Thanks for the response! I would have done a search, but I was getting frustrated with CC's time limit between searches, lol.

My Why Tufts? is pretty good at 50 words, but now I'm concerned about the short answers with 200 words.

^The character limit online is 2000 so you can go over the 200 word limit. Of course if you can say it in 200 words, go for that instead. ;)

Yes, I find that annoying as well, especially when trying to ascertain the exact right "key words"

^It is certainly very aggravating!

Well thanks for the advice everyone... I did also read what Dan said in the other thread as suggested. :)

My "why Tufts" is 81 words though less than 500 characters. And I don't know how to cut it :(

^ That's fine.

No one's going to be sitting counting words.

I'd been slaving away to bottle up my enthusiasm for Tufts in 50 words, but then read this! Now I'm slaving away trying to find the perfect way to express aforementioned enthusiasm in an appropriate number of words...:)
