Why are you applying to USC???

I'm not and I wouldn't :)

But I can tell you why others do:
Solid school/academics, good reputation, great school spirit, supposedly strong alumni network, rising prestige (though some will question how much higher it can go), great football program, and lots of "talent."

^ all those aspects are true. USC>UCLA is another reason. ;)

+LA location...

Location is a minus for some, being surrounded by a relatively bad area. But it's still close to better ones, and the school is enormous.

School spirit is insane. Even the people pulling allnighters in the computer lab have some kind of usc merchandise on and show up (quite happily) to football games. The alumni are especially hardcore.

Around neighborhoods in Southern California, USC flags/everything else are everywhere. The alumni network isn't just strong, it's huge. In the rest of the country, too, although to a lesser extent, just because they aren't as concentrated.

Other than that, it's pretty well-off. Sports are big, all of them. Research opportunities are everywhere, along with the best equipment they can find. Funding for research is not an issue.

They're aiming to boost selectivity and step up research, and they're honestly doing extremely well. A lot of people will apply to college with nothing in their mind but USC, even if they might have the grades and talent to go anywhere else.

I'd like a smaller school. But it's hard not to get infected by the school spirit.

It is extremely expensive as well. But just as a note, they're also extremely generous with financial aid. National Merit finalists get half tuition, I believe, immediately, plus more merit aid. Many of those that applied (most, from the ones I've talked to) got full rides.

They recruit almost everything heavily.

Mmm... that's highly debatable. Unlike Stanford>>>Cal which is pretty airtight ;)

^ No *****...I was giving it as a reason why someone would apply to USC...

good business, nice location, close but not too close to home, nice weather, good campus, lovely ppl (the ones i've met i mean), dad went there, and what else...nice school spirit, their website is awesome..blah bla hbalh :)

alumni network
great school spirit, something to brag about every new year at Rose Bowl game :-)
strong grad engineering program

i'll tell you if i get in :)

It's the best place in the world! USC offers a great variety of unique majors and minors, and makes it very easy to combine various areas of study. The school is strong in so many areas, and the student body is diverse in all regards. With programs as diverse as those in the sciences, humanities, arts, architecture, theater, policy, development, education, cinema, music, and engineering, the student body is very dynamic.
