Besides the fact that they are both Ivy Leagues..

because Cornell engineering OWNS whatever Ivy league school you attend... brah

Because Ithaca is a little slice of heaven on Earth?

^and really, who would want to spend the next four years of their life in crack cravin' gun wavin' new haven or some other dumpy town (hanover is exempt from this).

as for brown, that school attracts a certain type of person, someone who isnt a prestige grubbing ahole, someone who cares about learning, and who is a little... different.

The same reason anyone chooses to go to Harvard or University of Nebraska or Boston University....to get an education at the university they prefer, in the type of environment they prefer, for the amount of money they can afford...that's pretty much why anyone chooses to go to any college - the reasons are usually academic, social, and financial...not really hard to grasp :)

...um because both schools, while very different in character, have numerous programs consistently ranked in the top 1, 5, 10 or 20 in the world. Ivy League has nothing to do with it.

Why do people go to Northwestern or Duke? (two schools most would consider peers)

Troll much?

.. because, of the schools to which they were admitted, these two best met their personal and educational objectives ???

Because degrees from Cornell and Brown are invaluable

Cornell's ILR is unique!!

lol, what a tool.

Because we have better things to do rather than troll on a forum.

weeeee do????

Hmm, well I personally didn't apply to Brown (since I think I'll get enough Ivy rejections as is and the typical Brownian is a little... out there) and though I'd LOVE to attend Cornell, I've been deferred. So yeah.

Why would other people choose them?
Brown has a unique take on the college experience and offers top-notch academics, while Cornell is an institution which provides top-notch of just about everything under the sun, and more.

Why would anyone go to school in New Jersey?

Or Duke for that matter?

OP = Huge Duke troll

The OP may have asked an obvious question, but there's no need to be rude.

174IQPartier you seem to be one of two things: either a classic troll; or if you are implausibly in earnest, then you are clearly an arrogant ass who was recently deferred from Yale. Since the folks who make up Cornell's adcom are oriented to discard sophomoric narcissists from their admissions pile in a blink of their collective eye, you should definitely hope for the best at Yale in regular decision, where pretentious young republicans fit in a bit more readily. The Cornell community will be thankful for your absence. My guess is that the folks at Brown will be happy to not have you as well.

^ hahahahaha

Why wouldn't anyone go is the real question.
