So far Yale is the only Ivy I’ve applied to and I think it probably will be the only one because it has the strongest music program, a strong bio program, and has relatively lenient core requirements. I was really looking for a school where I could explore my multiple interests in an intellectual and stimulating environment and that’s what I found at Yale. I’ve applied to other schools with conservatories and liberal arts schools, but with the Yale School of Music and Yale College all accessible to undergrads, Yale definitely provides the best opportunities.

stupefy, i meant more the social scene. my school is okay, but nothing as pretty as princeton.

my school is very sectionalized, which is made even more ridiculous by the fact that it is about 95% white, so the sections are like “everyone” and “those three kids” (although I guess it’s kinda sectioned off into interests like sports/theater or whatever)

so, i got the feeling from research and the campus that the different types of people do very little intermingling. also, i feel like it retains more of the preppy vibe than yale because of its location and stuff.

i could be totally off base, but this is what i got from everything i’ve seen/heard/read

also, pigs, i feel it is only fair that you answer your own question: harvard, yale, or princeton

^she’ll say yale for sure

yale for sure

haha.

that = funny

Harvard…

ok i pick harvard tooooos

Oh, yeah, what I meant to say is wherever you’re going.

is princeton very cliquey? im in, have never visited, and am worried about that. one of my sisters friends went there, he didnt like it that much, said he thought the ppl would be smarter than they were (trust me, that wouldnt be an issue for me). what im concerned about is this: 1. is princeton cliquey? 2. how hard do they party (with alcohol)

I’m told that alcohol is pretty prevalent anywhere you go, except for explicitly dry campuses.

I ran into the same problem. I guess I’ll just have to pull what I did and HS and find some people who are too fun to need to drink.

^There are definitely campuses where alcohol/partying are more prevalent though. I’m not sure about Princeton.

But yeah, there will be plenty of people (including me) who don’t drink, “party”, et cetera at any campus, though I would prefer a campus where those people aren’t the extreme minority.

Harvard has the nicest campus hands down.

I think Princeton has the nicest campus, but in general I would give Yale a small edge when comparing HYP

Me too. I thought Princeton was the nicest campus, with Yale trailing somewhat behind and Harvard making a distant last.

princeton is the best, but how is yale’s better than harvard’s? yale is in NEW HAVEN! cambridge is just such a nicer place to live. I love yale for so many reasons. I dislike it for only one reason: its location

yess!! ur straight-edge tooo

“princeton is the best, but how is yale’s better than harvard’s? yale is in NEW HAVEN! cambridge is just such a nicer place to live. I love yale for so many reasons. I dislike it for only one reason: its location”

i think they meant the actual campus’ look, not the surrounding area.

I think people need to stop hating on New Haven. If there’s one thing that Yale students should complain most about New Haven is it’s HORRENDOUS weather. (It rains like no other!) Once you’re at Yale, you rarely walk off campus. And if you do, you do so voluntarily. So, for most of the time (maybe all of your time), you’re around the “pretty” campus you all think Yale has.

Is New Haven the prettiest place in America? Definitely not. But it is not THAT bad. And there are nice parts of New Haven. REALLY nice parts.

^my yale interviewer said he went to harvard for law school because he hated new haven

Really? Because I hated Harvard’s campus. It felt too urban and not cohesive at all. New Haven isn’t the greatest-looking city ever, but I really, really liked Yale’s campus and felt intimidated by Harvard’s. But then, that might be the small town talking. :)
