why yale

hey everyone

Im looking at Yale for RD and I'm wondering, for those of you applying (especially EA), what is it about Yale that you love so much??

Just about everything... but especially the residential college system, amazing peers and professors, reputaion, and the amazing architecture.

I love the residential colleges and especially the people. There were actually a couple of really good topics about this a while back. I'd suggest searching for them, as you may find more info there.

Yeah, find the "Likes/Dislikes" thread. That was a particularly good one for what you're looking for.

reputedly the best undergrad program in the US, a strong drama program, the fact that it's not rural, the atmosphere, the prestige, the "teas", the....everything. plus the fact that it seems more open to so-called "pointy" (vs well-rounded) students than Harvard or Princeton. i definitely lean towards pointy....
coming from a good high school, i learned that the kids you go to school can make EVERY BIT of difference. man, the kids i know made my life amazing (though crazy), and at a public high school i would've been miserable. so the high quality of the applicants is what attracts me the most. but that's not only a characteristic of Yale. my greatest reason for wanting HYP is to have amazing peers.

I would love to apply one day because of their Japanese Study Program in Kyoto. Have to research that more. Maybe people just like Yale because it's Yale, y'know?
