Thanks to all the helpful responses I am compiling a list of schools that seem as if they might be a good fit for my daughter. Wichita has come up as a suggestion and I have viewed their site. It looks like a wonderful program, but I'm still not clear whetner it is an auditioned or non-auditioned program. It seems if I'm reading correctly that it is a non-auditioned program for participation in the MT major, but very much auditioned for potential scholarship opportunities.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Wichita State used to be non-auditioned for admission, with auditions for scholarships only. My understanding is that it changed, fairly recently, to an audition requirement for admission to the BFA MT program (though I think it’s hard to spot this on the website).
Here’s a link to the “Program Auditions” page:
[THE SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS - Wichita State University](http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=FA_PERFORMINGARTS&p=/pa_auditions/)
Note that the fall audition date is coming up this weekend, November 9! The spring date is listed as “TBA”.
Wichita State does have a terrific program, and the opportunities in the community for extracurricular theatre involvement are very good indeed.
