Widely used Cell Phones

Can anyone explain to me how BBM is at all different from or better than texting with an unlimited texting plan?

umm its the same thing then but its free of charge. You just need an internet connection and it turns nto a mobile MSN Messenger.
You can group text and do loads of cool thing.
Not everyone has an unlimited texting plan. But everyone with a BB can BBM
hope you catch my drift

It depends what school you’re in.

I would say the majority of Engineers are using Droids, almost all of Wharton is on Blackberry (including myself), SAS is pretty split between Droid/iPhone/Blackberry, and Nursing… I have no idea.

I have a feeling that as more companies pick up the iPhone as their corporate phones, Wharton will make a shift to iPhone. Plus, the majority of us are using MacPros anyway, so it’s easier to streamline our technology. (But keep in mind that Droid offers a lot of versatility and is slowly picking up market share.)

Personally? I’d do iPhone 5.

see i got into fisher so ill be in both SEAS and Wharton.
I Phone 5 ;)

Blackberry FTW :D

I have T-Mobile- can anyone comment on signal strength. Thanks!

collegegirl - elaborate??

chelsearox-
well, personally I feel that blackberrys will be more useful. BBM is seriously the best. it’s so easy to keep in touch also in case you’re going to be away from your family while at college. agreed the iPhone has numerous games and applications, but you can get lots of cool stuff for the BB as well. And apple comes out with newer “updated” iPhones every few months and then you feel stupid for not getting the latest one :stuck_out_tongue: Also, blackberrys are extremely sturdy phones, and someone like me requires that cause I keep dropping my phone! hahaha

I could not believe the difference in quality between the android phone I have now and the Blackberry I had before. I loved my blackberry while I had it, but the Droid is truly on another level of useful, interactive, and fun phones than the Blackberry.

Also, to play Devil’s advocate and Blackberry-hater, BBM can be very useful for some people (CollegeGirl) and absolutely useless for others like me.

Also, the applications available for the Blackberry pale in comparison to the Droid and iPhone.

Hmm now the android has joined the competition.

I guess it all comes down to the use of the BBM feature for me.

Do most people not have unlimited texting? I know back at home most of the BB users have unlimited texting, thus rendering BBM useless except for that ~elite status, but I don’t know if that’s something that’s common just where I am. I have an Android right now and love it, but if people only BBM (I don’t have a pin) that could be a reason to switch.

i’m sure almost everyone nowadays has unlimited texting since the all inclusive plans for networks are becoming more popular and much cheaper. that being said, bbm is just extremely addicting and convenient, id rather talk through it than texting any day

Android for the win.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC App

I am writing this from my Droid Incredible, and would like to say it is simply the most practical and enjoyable to use! There are apps that would rival (surpass) the iPhone’s, the screen is so much better than the BB, and they have touch screen / keypad options. I don’t know much about BBM, but it sounds needless and vain. I could be wrong, but just get a Droid, you will not regret it!

hmmm wow now i am screwed.
i guess i am over thinking it.

Blackberry is definitely the phone on campus, but I have a droid. I like to have fun on my phone (apps, fast internet, etc) and bberrys dont do that for me. I dont have many friends with bberys so bbm would be a waste of time for me.

Its all resolved now. RIM just announced that they will add BBM to the android and iOS starting this September.
I Phone 5 for sure now.

BBM is a waste of time, it’s kinda pointless, everyone has unlimited texting, so…
iPhone all the wayyyyyy!

The most popular phone brand is Blackberry. Almost every Wharton student has one. Number two is definitely the IPhone which has all the functionality of a Blackberry with the only caveats being that it’s less business-y and also easier to crack/break. The third most popular is the droid. I don’t see many other brands.
