bump!!!!!!!!!!

keep adding to the wiki guys...bump

Bump for tomorrow's mail. Maybe I'll get my letter!

got in!!!! so happy.

i'm adding to the wiki.

Awesome! Unfortunately, I think that's probably going to be a trend. People that get in will be more likely to add an entry to the Wiki, so that probably partly explains our extremely high acceptance rate. Even notice that some of the people who didn't get in but put their name up initially didn't go back to change their status.

As long as people don't assume this sample represents the entire EA pool, then it's still useful in showing what types of applicants were accepted. I just wish more people would edit their personal pages - I intentionally only made a few columns on the table so that the more detailed information would go in those pages and the table wouldn't be so cluttered.

umm no one wants to use the chat? comeon now, i wanna find out if i can get in RD.

1550/800/800/800/740wr
no national awards and asian - bad combo.

cisforcons
accepted, 4.0, 3/766, 800M 800V, 800 SAT II, N, TX, F, 11a

cisforcons: I added your data. Good job on that 4000!

Irock1ce - your missing my data.. here it is:
Deferred, 3.94 760M,720V, 774 SATII Avg., M, CA, 11b

irock1ce: Do you have a class rank to put on the list?

I think I'm going to start an RD roster. That way, all of the members who post their information before receiving the letter will be a reliable sample of CC users, as opposed to the theory that mostly accepted people are posting to the Wiki now because they are still interested in Stanford and browsing the board.

So is the table format okay, or should I add/erase some columns? We could make 20 or so columns with detailed information (all three SAT 2s, personal ratings of essays/recs, etc.) since most people don't seem to be adding stats to their pages. On the other hand, the page might be difficult to navigate if the table is too big.

turtle - top 4%

Yeah, add columns. One for ECs, Awards, and Essays definitely

How about a scale of 1 to 5? People can do increments of 0.5, and they can write 0 if they truly had nothing (no essay submitted or something like that).

For Awards: A 1 is just minor stuff like Honor Roll. A 2 has some important schoolwide accomplishments (school record in sports, 1st prize in school competitions). A 3 has some important citywide accomplishments, a 4 has some important statewide accomplishments. A 5 is something truly amazing on the national or international level that gives you a big hook, like publishing a best-selling book or winning a nobel prize.

For ECs, 1 is just a couple things without much serious involvement, like intramural sports or 20 hours of volunteer work total. 2 is some activities with a lot of time involved but not much leadership or awards. 3 shows involvement and some leadership or awards on a few activities on a local level (team captain, first chair clarinet in school band). 4 shows leadership on a bigger level (fastest runner in the state, started a successful business). 5 would be something really amazing, like producing your own TV series on NBC or training for the Olympics and winning a medal.

Essays will be harder to rate, but people can estimate. This includes essays and short answers. 1 is if you know you're a bad writer, you wrote it the night before, and there are probably some gramatical errors. 2 is if you spent quite a bit of time on the essay and you answered the questions well but nothing stands out and it's somewhat boring or cliche. 3 is if you are a good writer and you spent quite a bit of time on the essay and you have some memorable passages that you are proud of, but you wouldn't call it the best. 4 is if the whole thing was wonderful all around and you might even find your essay in one of those books on how to write a good college essay. 5 is if you get a letter from the dean of admissions telling you that there is a position open as a writing professor--or just if people told you your essay was one of the most amazing things they've read. Don't be modest and give yourself a lower grade than you deserve.

I made a template for the RD roster. Tell me what you guys think. I also added a rating for curriculum and a column for age (interesting for people who apply early or late).

This time, we'll make a separator between people who added their entries before decisions came out and people who added them afterward. That way we can get an unbiased sample of CC applicants, and those who don't leave their status blank will be in an "unknown" percentage.

bumpetty bum pbumbp... stupid character limit
