we're reading an article from spanish wikipedia

I actually use yahoo... haha... but yea, I still say that I will google something... a lot of things are like that if you think about it... brandnames, that is.

Wikipedia is quite nice. My guess is google will buy it sometime in the next 5-10 years.

Don't make it your first source unless it's your only source. But I use it more often than any other encyclopedia:)

I love wikipedia. I dont know how i would live without it!
I love google. I live in the town the google headquarters are in and google provides our town with FREE WIRELESS INTERNET. chaa

To answer the question why not...

Well, I personally love the big databases 'cause the information is just so much more precise and detailed. I guess for random pieces of information you just want to look up google and wiki are great, but for actual research, you can't beat Project Muse or JSTOR or Lexis or something.

And honestly, who wouldn't want to know what Project Muse pulls up for "Britney Spears"? :D

Wikipedia + Google = Best Solution possible (as of right now)

I use Google and Wikipedia all the time. They're great. When I want to really dig into a subject, though, I prefer a specialized database. I use Nexis.com all the time -- but I get to use it free through work. I imagine that your libraries have subscriptions.

Beware of Wikipedia a little bit. There are a few subjects on which I AM an expert and Wikipedia is usually a little off. Not really badly wrong, just not right-on either. I use it for things where being a little wrong won't matter.

everything i know

i've learned from wikipedia.

mmm. chew on that one for a while.

if you like wikipedia, you'll LOVE www.uncyclopedia.org

it's positively scrumptuous.

Wikipedia is a fantastic way to get a basic knowledge, but it should never be cited. I've found more than a few errors in my time on Wikipedia (although I am a huge fan and it is always my first stop). Not confident in my words? Go to any page that gets a lot of visits (just pick something that's a big part of culture... a recent president, an event, a theory, etc.) and visit the talk page. You'll find many errors have likely come up on the page.

However, Wikipedia articles (when done correctly) cite sources at the bottom, and THESE are very frequently articles from high-quality sources. It's often a quick way to get a nice list.

I think wikipedia is credible enough. It's all facts; nothing fabricated or anything like that. and, as someone already said, there are always references at the bottom where you can check it yourself.

I love that Wikipedia has completely random subjects along with the normal fare. Types of nerds, anyone?

go to google, search "Nature study Wikipedia," and there you will discover that wikipedia is in fact very accurate.

Long live Wikipedia.

On one research report I cited Wikipedia and my teacher took off 5 points. grrr

I love wikipedia. It's accurate enough to get general facts and do quick checks, definitions, etc.
And, when you do find something TOTALLY inaccurate, it's hilarious! There was a great entry about my middle school a while back. I think it got deleted because it said some terrible things, though. Haha.

I love Wikipedia.

use it if you don't have to cite the source.
I always use google, which ends up always having wikipedia as the first thing.

Wikipedia is soooo fun :)

Our school's firewall has Wikipedia blocked...under "Reference."
Then again, some sites are blocked because they're in the "Education" category.

I adore Wikipedia! In fact, there isn't a day I don't go there at least twice.
