I'm going to be a senior and currently i'm taking 3 AP Classes (Calculus AB, Physics C Mechanics and Psychology). I took AP US History last year. I was wondering if I will have large work load. I may have a job too which I will work 2-4 times a week, including weekends. We do have block scheduling so it isn't everyday, and I dont' do sports, but I do other extracurriculars, plus I will need to take SATS and apply for colleges/scholarships. Do you think it will be okay? Thanks.

I’m taking four this year as a junior. It should be fine. One of my friends who graduated this past year took four APs junior year and six senior year, plus he self-studied four more over the course of high school. He was also in highest band, Academic Decathlon, had a job on the weekends (AcDec doesn’t let you work during the week- we stay til nine or ten every night), got a near perfect SAT score, and was Valedictorian of his class. If he can do all of that, you can handle three APs.

I think you’ll be fine! From what I understand, Calculus and Physics will take more time, especially if you want to do well on the tests. As long as you’re willing to devote at least a couple hours a night (I’m assuming you have other non-AP classes too :)! ) you’ll be okay. Just try to plan ahead, study more on the nights you’re not working! Good luck, you’ll be fine!

Since you dont have something like APush or APWH, you should be fine. Calc and Physics C require some time to study and understand topics, and Psych is essentially all memorization.

With these APs, it isnt the workload that will be the problem, but rather the content. If you can’t understand a particular topic in Calc or Physics (or even Psych) SEEK HELP IMMEDIATELY. These classes build up on ideas so its important to know every aspect.

I took Calc BC and Physics C Mechanics, along with AP US Gov, AP Stat, and AP Lit. I still had loads of free time, but just remember not to slack off too much!

psych is easy, and if you love physics, it won’t be that hard.

Calc and physics could be hard for you if you are not a math person but psych is not hard.

As the others have said, it’s fine. 3 AP classes can be manageable.

I’m taking 5/6 my senior year: Eng Lit, US Gov, Calc AB, Phys C Mech, Music Theory, and, depending on how it will work at my school (long story), possibly French.

I took Psych last year and it was always lowest on my priority list of what to do, even below French, that I rarely even had to study for, so that is barely an AP Class. I got a 4 cramming during a busy, noisy trip to Wildwood and after a long bus ride the night before, so you should be fine with that.

Like I said above, I’m taking Calc AB and Phys C Mech too so I really can’t comment, but you sound like you should do fine with those three.

I’m taking 5

If you find yourself not having any free time, then you’re taking more AP classes than you can handle.

I took 4 AP classes, 1 IB and 1 pre-ap as a junior in addition to being in orchestra and a competitive martial arts team and many clubs/com. service. It was stressful, but it’s a hell of a lot more than you’re taking, so you should be fine! It honestly depends on work ethic and your motivation, so if you find yourself constantly miserable then you’re doing something wrong. Best of luck! Those classes just require a lot of time. The work isn’t too difficult.

You’ll be fine, 3 AP is not that much, even if you have a job and extracurricular, actually 3 AP is the max recommended by counselors.

This thread was started in August and the school year is almost over. I think the OP made the decision already, so there was no reason to revive this old thread.
