will a d1 school take me if im transferring from a community college?

I am about to start my second season of soccer at my community college, and Im interested into transferring out at the end of this year to a few schools. I would like to continue playing soccer for my final 2 years of eligibility, but a few schools I would like to transfer to are division 1 schools. I know im good enough to play at that level of soccer, but would a d1 coach take a player who already used up 2 years of eligibility? I heard most D1 schools like to take incoming freshman out of high school, so they have them for all 4/5 years of their eligibility.

College coaches are all about winning. Therefore, if a player can deliver the goods, most coaches don’t care if he/she is there only a couple of years. That having been said, some schools may have policies against bringing in CC players; conversely, many coaches prefer to use the CCs as a type of “farm system” for their 4-year programs.

Ask the coaches of your target schools.

This is not soccer specific, but the National Championship UNLV teams of the early 90s were about 50% Junior college transfers. Some only had 1 year left.

It is really all about the W.

I’m sure it depends on the coach, but in general being recruited for soccer out of a CC is done all the time. Do be aware that (assuming you are talking about transferring for the 2015/16 school year) most D1 coaches are either well into the recruiting process for that year or are already done. If you have not already put together a hi-lite video, you need to do so quickly and get it out to coaches, and then be very aggressive about following up with them. Since your CC season is starting, you should be inviting coaches to come watch you play, giving them very specific game schedules, locations, etc. You also might talk to your CC coach to see if he has any leads on schools that might be interested, and also to try to get a realistic opinion of your chances. You would most likely have a better shot at D3, or possibly D2 schools at this point- not because you are not good enough for D1 but because it is so late in the recruiting game for soccer.
