Will a double major make me a more competitive grad school applicant?

I'm majoring in computational linguistics and at my school, to double major in Cognitive Science will only take me 8 more classes. I'm not convinced that I even want to go to grad school and go into research, but I have to acknowledge that it is an option for me. But would a double major in Comp. Linguistics and Cognitive Science look good if I wanted to get a masters in a related or similar field?

Maybe. If your research interests are in a field that overlaps both cognitive science and computational linguistics, then a double major would definitely be helpful. If they fall solidly into one field and don’t really borrow from the other, then not so much - it really just depends on what your plans are.

For me, it did, but I was in a field that was a combination of my double major (biology and psychology). For you, it may or may not be beneficial, but in my opinion, if it’s not a burden to do the double major, then just do it. You never know, and as long as it doesn’t take away from classes that would be helpful to your future career/educational interests, then why not?
