Will a scheduling conflict affect admission chances?

So I’m entering my senior year of high school and just found out I won’t be able to take biotechnical engineering, which I plan to major in, because of scheduling conflicts. Will colleges see this as a “lack of demonstrated interest” and use this against me even if I explain the situation in my application? Seems a little unfair if it will count against me.

Your guidance counselor should explain the conflict in scheduling. Is there a way you can take that class and forgo another one that may not be as important to your potential major?

It’s not a core, apparently not a district requirement for graduation. I’ve never seen this course on a high school transcript.

No. Schedule conflicts happen. Every AO knows that.

You should not explain it. There are better uses for the add’l info section. Have your GC address it on the Secondary School Report.

Agree, the explanation is best coming from your guidance counselor.
