I really messed up this marking period. I’m on my second marking period out of four, and I’m probably going to fail Gym. My friends have been telling me not to worry about it too much because only the third marking period shows up on transcripts, and that colleged wouldn’t be able to see other marking pds.l Is this true?
Moreover, what are the chances that colleges would be more lenient because of the fact that it’s Gym? I’m hoping to go to Queens College, if that makes a difference.
Are you failing gym for other than physical reasons? Colleges might wonder.
I always wanted to ask this, but how do you fail gym? Not go? Go, but refuse to do anything?
I would think a failure in any class, gym or otherwise, will be trouble. CA requires 2 years of PE credit to graduate.
Some states require p.e. credits to get a diploma. That might be a bigger issue for you.
That’s where my question stems from, I’m not actually failing the class, I’m failing one of the marking pds. If I shape up now, I’ll be able to get a decent score on my final grade for the class. So I’m wondering if colleges will be okay with that? I’m failing this marking pd because I’ve been awfully lazy and a generally bad student. I’m taking weight training at the moment and we have these weekly papers we hand in and I haven’t handed in a single one.
It is the final grade that will be looked at. However you seem to be in need of an attitude adjustment.
In CA, you cannot graduate HS without 2 years of PE, although playing HS sports can mitigate the requirement for the 2nd year of PE. If you can’t graduate, then no college. But you could make it up in the summer before entering college.
Those weekly papers can’t be to complicated and generally the information need for the papers is readily available online (e.g., parts of the human body, exercises, etc.).
Will your PE teacher allow you to catch up on your old homework or is too late and deadlines have passed?
Just get on it.
It is time to get yourself together, do all the papers coming due and I’d also write up the ones you missed previously. Don’t let laziness ruin your plans for the future that you have worked so hard for.
Also ask your guidance counselor what grades get sent to colleges (final grade only or entire report card).
Don’t spend time on CC, spend it catching up on the late papers instead.
