So, I have 4 AP exams this year; AP Physics, AP Art History, APUSH, and AP Lang. I had both, my AP Art History and APUSH exams today, but both got severely messed up. My mom restarted our router during my Art History exam, so I had 10 minutes cut off from my first essay and couldn’t answer all of the questions as well as I could have. Then, with 4 minutes left of my APUSH exam, I went to copy my beautiful response I was extremely proud of, but I accidentally closed the tab and couldn’t log back in before the timer expired because Google kept logging me in under the wrong account. I requested retakes for both, but I have absolutely no faith in CollegeBoard to effectively judge students’ situations, so would this significantly impact my college application or would they understand? I really don’t care about the college credit, I just want to know if I’m possibly screwed.
Those problems are widespread and have been reported in national media. So no, colleges won’t hold it against you. Even before covid 19, AP exams didn’t play a major role in admissions. They may have validated a strong grade in the class, but their more useful role is for getting credit, exemptions from basic core requirements, or a higher placement/skipping 100-level classes.
You will be fine.
I had straight A’s in all of my classes, so I think it’ll be clear that I do understand the information and online exams just suck. It’s 100x more frustrating too because I had the top test score for every test we took in both classes (I’m very competitive so I ask every time lol).
Thank you, that’s good to hear. I can’t wait for the inevitable chaos that would follow an online SAT haha.
