Will asking my 10th grade teachers for recommendations hurt my chances?

Hello! I am a rising senior getting ready to start applying, and I was thinking about who I want to write my recommendations. Would asking my 10th grade teachers for recommendations hurt my chances? I felt like I built a better bond with some of my sophomore year teachers than my junior year teachers, so I think they would be able to paint a better picture of me. What do you think?

If you feel like a sophomore teacher knew you really well, ask them. But having both recs be from sophomore teachers is stretching it.

Like OP said I would do one rec from 10th and one from 11th. Personally I have a teacher from sophomore year writing me a req but I am sending it as a supplement to two reqs from junior year.

I’d tend to agree that under most circumstances, 1 LOR from a soph year teacher is the max you’d want to send. You also need to check the college websites and make sure that they permit soph teachers, some only accept jr and sr year. If possible, a soph year teacher from an advanced class (eg. AP) is good.

i had a full year (2 classes, one per semester) with a sophomore year teacher and we had a good relationship. Nothing wrong with having a rec from a teacher who knows you well
