I will be 20 years old when I applying the college, and I moved from another country to U.S. in my sophomore year, so i did repeat one year. I will be 20 years old when I submit my college application, will they put me in another candidate pool? Or is that an disadvantage for me to get into ivy leagues?

Being 20 shouldn't matter at all. Many overseas students are rather old when they enter college due to mandatory military service, etc. Not everyone who enters college is 18, I know I wasn't and I don't think colleges cared.

But my friend told me if a 18 years old and 20 years old guy have the same ability, colleges will pick the 18 years old.

Apply and find out :)

What would the rationale be for this? I knew several ivy grads who took a year off between HS and college. Frankly the 20 year old is probably a safer bet b/c he's more mature IMHO. I think your friend is completely guessing
