Hi, so i just got my October SAT results and they are pretty decent but not what i wanted. I got 650 in M, 530 in CR and 590 in W a total of 1770. I am applying to Penn State University Park, University Of Pittsburgh, Temple University and Virginia Tech. I applied Early decision for all of these Universities. Since i am not pleased with the October SAT results, I signed up to take the November SAT's will these universities look at my November SAT results? Or they will just ignore them because it's too late? All of these Universities have an early decision deadline for November 1st.
Thank you so much for your answers!!! :)

First, let’s clarify some terms. “Early decision” is when you apply to a college usually by Nov 1 and get a decison by mid-Dec. It is binding in that if you are accepted you agree to attend and withdraw all other applications. You are prohibited from applying to more than one school “early decision.”

“Early Action” like early decison means you usually apply by Nov 1 and get decision in mid-Dec but it is not binding and you can usually apply to more than one college early action.

Now for some further clarity. Pitt, Penn St and Temple have neither early decision nor early action and you do not have to apply by Nov 1. Penn State has a priority date, November 30. If you apply by that date you will get a decison by February but that is just its first phase of regular decision. You can submit Nov scores for that and should identify Penn St in your Nov test application as a college to receive scores.

Temple and Pitt follow rolling admissions. Their application deadlines are March 1. Rolling admissions is a form of “regular” admission and means a college makes and sends out decisions as “completed” applications are received (a completed application is one that has required materials including application, transcript, and an SAT or ACT test score). If you want the Nov score to be considered by them, then your safest course is to apply to those colleges in latter part of Nov and send scores then. If you apply by Nov 1 and send test scores and any other required materials like a transcript, and thus create a “completed application,” chances are that a decision could be made on you before the Nov test score ever shows up.

Vtech is the only one with an early program and that is early decision. Thus if you apply early decision to it by Nov 1 you are prohibited from applying early decison to any of oher college and if Vtech accepts you, you must attend and withdraw all other applications. Are you certain you want to do that? Vtech accepts through the October tests for early decision. You could attempt to supplement your application file with the Nov test but it may not get there in time to be considered.
