I used to go to a prep school (9th-11th) until I transferred to a public school for my senior year. For my first three years I consistently kept a little over a 3.1 average (3.3 weighted). When I switched to my new school they copied my grades from my old school and entered them into their system, making their own transcript including all my previous grades. My question is will admissions offices see that I went to a different school? The private school is significantly more challenging, as I finished my first semester at the new school closer to a ~3.5. I am worried about this, because they even had to change one of my Junior year classes to something with a different name (I was told the school didn’t offer the course listed on my old transcript, so they changed it to one they did offer that is the equivalent.) Will colleges see that I used to go to a more academically challenging school, or as far as they can see was I a student at my graduating school all four years? Only one college (UCF if it matters) asked for previous schools, the rest just asked for my graduating high school. Sorry for the long post, but I cant find anything that answers what i’m asking. It would really be a shame if my potential is lower than it would have been if I graduated from my original school.
Have you seen a copy of your transcript? It is very likely that the first school will be listed on your transcript, even if the grades and credits were incorporated.
I talked to my counselor today and she showed me my transcript, and each school is shown for each year. Thanks!
