I’m a sophomore currently, and have taken Honors orchestra ever since middle school. However, I feel like since I am not exceptional at it, I want to drop it next year to take another AP Science class. Is it worth it to drop orchestra if I continue playing in an out-of-school orchestra? Will it look bad if I drop it after so many years of playing?
It is no issue to drop orchestra especially since you will continue playing outside of of school.
No, it is fine to drop it. Playing with an orchestra outside of school shows plenty of continued commitment to music. Taking another AP science class will show that you are challenging yourself academically. Sounds like a good choice.
My daughter had to drop junior year too because it wouldn’t fit in her schedule. She continued outside of school and with EC groups.
