I recently graduated from a community colllege with a certification in pharmacy technology with a gpa of 3.9. I stopped attending a four year college 2 yrs ago and decided to follow a career path to be a pharmacy technician instead of being miserable at the four year college. I want to work as a pharmacy tech as I truly love the field.
I attended the four year college for 3 semesters. My first semester I was an engineering major and was placed on probation with a gpa of 1.5. I then retook some classes I failed and got a 2.4 gpa my second semester which got me out of being kicked out. My second semester I had hope of continuing with my plan to get a bachelors degree. My third semester, I decided to change majors so I took 2 classes related to the new major and some gen eds. I failed all my classes my third semester except for passing one gen ed which brought my gpa to a 1.7. I had hated the new major I chose as well and as a result didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do now that I didn’t do well in any of the majors I had been “interested” in.
Btw the classes or grades that I had at the 4 yr institution didn’t transfer at all to the pharmacy tech program except for a couple credits that were pre reqs in order to be able to be admitted to the pharmacy tech program (general English, math, and one science course). I basically wasted my money taking the other classes at the 4 yr college bc they didn’t count towards anything.
My question is will employers ask me why I suddenly failed most of my classes my last semester at the 4 yr college? I had failed one class, got d’s and c’s before, but never gotten F’s in most of my classes just in one semester. I just had a lack of direction in terms of what I wanted to do with my life at that point and it was just not only hard for me to motivate myself but it was also a problem of not grasping the material in those classes enough to pass. Will employers even look at my transcript from the 4 yr school if I list it on my resume?
