Will financial aid cover more classes that pertain to BS, if I got my Associates?

Hi there,

In December 2012 I will graduate with my Associate of Science degree from a community college.

I plan on transferring to the university here and want to major in Environmental Science.

I didn't know what I wanted to major in when I first started so I took random things that interested me to fulfill the requirements. I know financial aid would cover classes at the university, since I'd be moving on to complete a higher degree. However, if I can take these classes at the same community college that I got my associates, will they be covered?

The classes I can take at community college, for cheaper, that will transfer to university are here: University Transfer Guide by Major | PCC

It's about 65 credits worth, not counting some prereqs I'd have to take like BI 101, 102, etc... Now, I'm graduating this term with the 91 for my associates already. I know I can't finish them ALL here since the university only accepts like 124 transferable credits...but some would be AWESOME.

I guess I'm confused. I wish I would have taken this route in the beginning, but I was undecided on a major. Am I screwed? I don't want to "waste" anymore financial aid, I'm at like 315% of my pell grant already of the 600% limit and have been taking out loans. I'm unsure if there's a loan limit? But I'm aware that my award will be more to accommodate the tuiton increase at a university....

I'm meeting with an academic advisor in a week, financial advisors I meet with are always unhelpful and are in a rush. Thanks in advance for any input!

The maximum a dependent undergrad can borrow is $31,000; an independent student can borrow up to $57,500.
