Will finish almost all of my pre-Req, but missing 2 IGETC course? Low GPA (UCR , UCI)

My Major is business informatics and applying to UCR, and UCI.

But my GPA is about a 3.0, mainly because I've only aced 1 pre req course..

Planning on taking classes this spring to finish up my pre-req.

Class taken and planned:

2 Series of Calculus : 9 units
3 Semesters of Computer Science: 11.5 units
2 Semesters of Accounting and Economics: 8 units
1 Semester of Biology: 4 Units
2 Semesters of Computer Information System: 6 Units.

So more than half of my units will be from pre-reqs, but missing 2 courses from IGETC( behavioral sciences)

Along with my crappy 3.0 GPA and missing 2 IGETC courses, will completion of my pre-reqs help my chances at all?

Your odds for UCI don’t look great. The average admitted GPA at UCI tends to be somewhere in the 3.3-3.5 range IIRC. UCR seems pretty realistic. And yes if you complete your pre-reqs your chances are going to significantly improve. Pre-req completion is one of the main things they prioritize for admission. I wouldn’t worry too much about IGETC. You should be able to still get partially IGETC certified; you’ll just have a few GEs to complete after you transfer.

Right on, thanks for the info. Yeah, been scrolling through 50+ pages, reading every post of last year UCI transfer admittance thread and only discovered one that got in with a 2.8 lol.
UCR and UCI are my main, but what about UCM and UCSC, realistic chance?

UCM is a complete mystery to me lol. I remember hearing that they were fairly easy to get into in the past and had an acceptance rate close to 90% until just last year where it dropped significantly to around 40-50% I think. So I’m not certain on that one. My impression has been that UCM is the easiest to get accepted to, but because of last year I can’t say. As far as UCSC, it’s possible. UCSC is getting more and more competitive. I’d say ideally you should be in the 3.1-3.3 range for UCSC, but you’re not too far off so it’s possible.
