Will having a really low science score (22ish) on the ACTs hurt me?

If everything else is pretty solid, will having a 22ish on my ACT score science section hurt me?

If my composite is 30?

If so, how much would it hurt me?

I wouldn't think so. If you got a 22 on Science, and still got a 30 on your overall composite..you had to have done very, very well on the other 3. Everyone can't have superb #s for every subject. Some people are stronger w/ Math and Science, while others are stronger w/ English/Lit.

I don't think it should hurt you at all.

A lot of people I know have struggled w/ Science. My friend got a 34 on the reading and 30 on English, but a 21 on Science.

I take the ACT for the first time in February, and I'm wondering what was so difficult about the Science portion.

Any details on that?

If you're Asian, it actually might help you stand out lol.

I never understood why the science section is considered hard either. I think it's just that it's the best indicator of actual logical thought over simple knowledge or systematic strategy. Therefore, the ones who work hard and get 4.0 GPAs are not necessarily going to do as well as they'd expect on the science section.

I don't find the science section difficult at all. I've gone through un-timed science practice sections and got them nearly all correct.

I think it's the time constraint more than anything else. I always panic and freak out because 35 minutes is not nearly enough to answer all those questions.

i took some practice science questions and got them all right, but freaked out and seriously bombed the actual section because i was thinking more scientific-factually than logically and analytically.

killed my score, too. should have gotten a 34.

Man, read the questions first and refer to the graphs/charts that they mention in the question. Much faster.

And of course a 22 would hurt you, considering it increases the number of people who have higher scores than you. Of course it probably won't matter that much, since the science section isn't very important.
