<p>My son got a D for the last semester of AP Physics. He got a B for Fall semester. The rest of his classes are A's and B's and his last semester gpa is higher than 3.0.
We're afraid he's going to get rescinded from UCSD. Has this happened to anyone and what did you do?</p>
<p>I’m worried about this too, I took AP Physics this year and got a C first Semester and an F second semester, but the rest of my grades are really good. I am hoping that since I am going to go to Sonoma State (which is just a Cal State so easier to get into than a UC) that they won’t be too angry. I have been reading up a lot about this topic and it looks to me that colleges don’t do much about it unless the GPA drops dramatically ( i don’t know if your son usually gets a 4.0 and then it dropped to like a 3.2 because i think that that would be considered dramatic) and in that case you can usually convince the admissions officers at the school to have the student be on academic probation for a semester instead of rescinding their admission. AP physics is a VERY HARD class and i think that they will take that into consideration. it looks to me that he didn’t just give up on school, he had trouble in one class. I think that colleges will recognize that he tried hard to challenge himself this year and that this wasn’t a case of extreme senioritis/laziness.</p>

<p>What’s his overall gpa? I got a D in a history class and Csulb rescinded their decision because my gpa dropped below their cut off. I tried to appeal but they didn’t do anything and said better luck next year.

<p>His admission was upheld last week. I think he made it in because his overall GPA didn’t drop that much and his GPA for senior year was still above 3.0 so I guess he dodged a bullet.</p>
