I have been accepted to UCSDs Bioengineering in the Warren College and will have about 48 AP transfer credits; with the budget and class cuts will I be able to graduate in 4 years?

of course, that’s more than what I had (28) when I first started and I’m a bit ahead even without taking extra classes over the summer. You shouldn’t be worried about getting the classes you want/need since you do have a substantial # of units to start with plus warren is good in terms of not overburdening you with too many GE’s and other non-major courses.

no worries, as battleidiot said, that’s much more than I have and most of my suitemates have, and they are definitely on track for graduating in 4 years.

You could probably graduate in 3 years if you wanted to.

^ only if a good number of your 48 credits are going to substitute for real classes. some APs are repetitive (cover the same GE requirement), some count for very little (like a 3 on AP chem), etc.

i’d say plan on four years. enjoy your time here!

Thanks. Other than AP Euro History is a 3 my other APs (Chem, Bio, Lit, Cal AB) are 4s & 5s. Taking Econ & Cal BC next month aiming for at least 4s.

Just make sure you adjust your 4 year plan accordingly and don’t take too many random classes. You should be able to graduate in 4 years without (too much) summer session or 20+ unit quarters. Just ensure that you get into the prereqs at the right time so you don’t waste quarters like a few of my friends have.

Graduating in 3 years as a BioE major while maintaining decent grades and staying sane is all but impossible unless all your APs are prereqs or GEs and you’ve taken community college classes to get you to second year math.

My bad. I didn’t notice it was Bioengineering. No you can’t possibly graduate in 3 years like I said but in 4 years, definitely if you plan it out right.

How much does the UC IGETC knock out in terms of GE’s in Warren? I will be getting my IGETC this semester for UC and I was wondering how much GE’s I still need to take.

go to warren’s website and compare your transfer credits to what they’ll actually accept. we can’t do that for you.
