Are you concerned about not graduating in four years?

The one downside of SDSU that I have at this moment is that a lot of people have told me it may be hard to graduate in four years because it can be difficult to get the classes that you need. Has anybody heard anything supporting or discrediting this accusation?

if you want to graduate in 4 years, that is definitely possible. i have several friends that did.

the reason many sdsu students dont graduate in 4 years is because

 1. they fail classes
 2. they register for 12 units per semester
 3. they want the perfect schedule, like Tues Thurs only so they put off their classes

depending on what your major is, it may be harder to register for popular classes but once your in upper division, you should be set plus you get priority for add-ins. GE courses are usually filled up soon, especially the goods ones or easy ones. Also, everyone who goes to SDSU loves it and wouldn’t mind staying an extra year.

I agree with CaliGuy, D had to take a couple of “off time” classes in the past 2 years in order to get undegrad done. She took bio from 6-9 at night but the prof was one of the best she ever had and she has taken two classes that were held Friday morn but they too had really good profs. By limiting yourself to Mon-Thurs, 9-2 pm classes, you may be missing some really good professors! Once your get the first two years done, the schedule gets easier. Also, take at least 14-16 units. It is very workable if you are willing to do a little work. She has had plenty of time for fun!

Oh I totally understand about having to be flexible about the schedule and I have no problem taking Friday classes or morning classes. I was actually considering taking a few courses for general education classes over the summer and also I’ll probably get 3 classes waived (from AP classes I’m currently taking in high school.)

xosammi then you’ll do great! Good luck and welcome to SDSU.
