Hey all,

I'm going to be a senior next year, and I'm looking into colleges (obviously).
I would love to attend Penn State's University Park as a freshman, I want to be in their Pre-Med program. I'll list some statistics, could you guys give me some feed back with what my chances are?

SAT: 1200 (630 Math/570 Reading) - taking them again in the fall
GPA: 3.57 (first year of wieghted courses, brought up from 3.0 in two years)
All honors classes
Boy Scout
Life Guard
Volunteer
Couple academic awards
Involved with music (guitar and saxophone)
Baseball player for school
Two Clubs

Going for an interview, I'm an extremely dedicated and responsible student. People say that will help?

Thanks!

The GPA improvement is helpful. Try to narrow your focus on ECs to the ones that are THE MOST important, at least for essays. Bumping the SAT should be beneficial. Don’t bank on the interview: although it will help, your time is best spent on essays. Those can make or break you. All in all, I think you have a definite shot.

Good luck! I hope I’ve been helpful in some way.

okay thanks!
any other thoughts guys?

I think your looking pretty good right now, I wanna go there for pre-med too! It looks great! If anything, I would say that your improvement is also good, that you brought up your GPA so much, I did the same, freshman year I sucked but I pulled it back up! Yeah definitely work on those SAT scores, they’re awful to take I know, but a second shot couldn’t hurt. And yes I think being very passionate will help too! Write a kick-ass essay as well!
