Will I Be Fine?

Good morning everyone,

I am currently a pre-electrical engineering major, and I will be admitted to the major after next semester assuming I pass all the pre-requisites. I’m a little worried and starting to question myself.

I am in the following classes as of right now:

  1. Physics 2 (So electricity and magnetism)
  2. Linear Algebra
  3. Digital Systems
  4. Methods of Analysis (Differential Equations)
  5. Political Science
  6. Physics Lab
  7. Aerospace Studies

My cumulative GPA is a 3.6, which I know is pretty decent IMO. But, since I’m majoring in EE, I thought physics 2 would make more sense to me and whatnot. But I’m struggling. I have a pretty solid C in the class, and I’m definitely going to pass with a C, but it will be my first C and it concerns me. Linear algebra as well. I believe I will get a C in that class.

I am not accustomed to getting Cs, but my GPA could dip as low as 2.76 this semester. I kind of overloaded myself trying to graduate in 4, but I am now planning for 5. Anyways, I just want to know if any EE majors has ever struggled in physics 2 or linear algebra or any of the pre-reqs but did well in the upper division courses. I’m just afraid EE won’t be right for me. I mean I understand circuits and whatnot but a lot of the other concepts are still hard for me to grasp. & I am also working, so I don’t have much time to study.

I would hang in there. I was an A+ student in high school, but got a C in physics one semester, and barely a B the other. I found when I got to my engineering classes, I did fine. I’m a structural engineer, but I feel your pain! And I’m impressed you’re doing well in circuits. I had to take a circuits class and was glad to get out of there alive. Yikes.
