Will I be in a disadvantage?

@SaiSamanyu

I think you have some facts incorrect.

  1. Some colleges do NOT give an application fee waivers to international students. Some do. Check each college. Also, there are no fee waivers for international students for submission of the CSS Profile which these elite schools require for consideration of institutional need based aid.

  2. What good does being on a waitlist do? There is never a guarantee you will be accepted off the waitlist. Plus, at need aware schools, your financial need would be considered if they even considered you as someone to invite to attend off the waitlist. I don’t think getting on a waitlist, or even a bunch of waitlist is any guarantee for admission to the schools you listed.

The Colleges I am applying to are, like giving fee waivers to international students,
Secondly, Waitlists in less prestigious colleges means higher acceptance (People Choose Harvard for Engineering even tho Cornell is better for Engineering :frowning: ). I mean obvio, You should have like more than 3 for Waitlists…

This statement makes no sense. Waitlists are the same as rejections. You don’t get to choose anywhere that you get waitlisted. Getting more waitlists is not a good thing and should not be a goal.

Adding…for international students, there are also no fee waivers for submission of SAT scores or the CSS Profile.

Thanks for the reply .

Most of the colleges allow you to self report your scores and even for the CSS profile they provide you with the college codes

They provide you with the college codes, BUT you need to pay to submit the Profile form. It’s not free.

And I don’t think the college board gives waivers to international students.

@sybbie719

The college board does not supply fee waivers for Testing or the profile to international students living outside of the U.S.

Just an FYI, over the past few admission cycles Dartmouth has not gone to their waitlist. I could not consider this a good strategy. Keep in mind students who deferred their enrollment this year will be attending college next year year leaving less seats
